Abstract: Prepositions in Arabic, like other languages, play a key role in changing meanings of the verbs and in narrowing or widening its range of action. For example, daraʾa yadraʾu darʾan, the verb ‘daraʾa ‘anhu’ is different from ‘daraʾa lahū’; first one means to defend from him while the last one means to pave for him. Similarly, daraʾa bihi is different from these two. Likewise, if you apply any preposition to a verb to which this preposition is not applied though it would be understood from the native speakers, it will not be currect and will be against the common use of the language. For example, the verb ‘malla’ if you apply to it preposition ‘an though it is understood by the native speakers, it will not be currect because this verb is either used without preposition or with the preposition ‘min’. So one must be careful while applying any preposition to any verb. In this short article the verb ‘marra yamurru murūran’ will be discussed with the prepositions applied to it.
