Abstract:
Ibrahim Al-koni( 1948-) is a well know writer, journalist, poet, and one of the most prolific Arabic novelists. He has an identity among Arab and non-Arab writer for his fantastique, symbolism and philosophical writing style, as he has been called a master of magical realism and the evocation of the desert. Al-koni has published over 100 books, including poetries, stories and novels. He wrote all his book in Arabic even though his first language is Tamasheq. He contributed Arabic literature with more than 50 novels. Some of his works have been translated in 35 languages. His work earned him an international repute and prestigious recognition.
He received numerous awards like: Swiss State award, Libyan state Award, Japanese Translation committee award. He was the winner of the Mohamed Zefzaf Prize for the Arabic Novel in 2005 and the 2008 Sheikh Zayed Award for Literature 2008
This article aims at studying the life and literary contribution of Ibrahim Al-koni, with an attempt to examine his work and issued discussed in his novel and technique of his novels, along with his influences on Arabic and western novels.
Al-koni not just enriched Arabic literature but he has introduced a new ground and paved a new path in the literary tradition of modern Arabic novels. He changed the direction of the novel and provided new method of writing.
